Sustainability
No Poverty | SDG #1 and Zero Hunger | SDG #2
We make sure that our community activation initiatives feed into the local landscape. In the past, we ran a campaign to fundraise for the Homeless Association and we aim to continue to promote resource sharing, inclusion and healthier lifestyles in the local community. We are also developing ideas for wellness-themed events and campaigns with the local family resource centres and charities.
Gender Equality | SDG #5 and Reduced Inequalities | SDG #10
Promoting equity, diversity and equality is one of our main aims. It starts with our team, where we ensure balanced gender representation and fair decision making. We are also actively promoting reducing inequalities, creating equal opportunities and inclusion in education, among students and extending to the local community. We create bespoke groups for students with protected characteristics across our apps to support inclusion and integration.
Responsible Consumption & Production | SDG #12
Our team is practising responsible consumption and waste management at home as well as translating that into the campus environment. We are implementing clear and practical initiatives to reduce waste and over consumption through awareness raising and designated recycling bins.
As a part of our sustainability upskilling, we are training on recycling, waste awareness, and conscious consumption. We are also developing community networks for green awareness through reducing single use objects campaigns.
Good Health & Wellbeing | SDG #3
The health and wellbeing of our staff and the student community are of the highest importance to us. We focus on providing support, tools and information to students to ensure the best possible campus living experience for them. We promote positive mental wellbeing for students through live sessions which bring the community together.
Clean Water and Sanitation | SDG #6 and Clean Energy | SDG #7
At CampusConnect, we are mindful of our energy consumption behaviour. Our office staff practice electricity saving on site as well as at home. Due to the nature of our work, there is no need for travelling and those who use the office cycle or walk. In addition to this, staff and visitors are encouraged to refill water bottles to promote responsible water use and reduce single-use plastic.
Climate Action | SDG #13
CampusConnect is dedicated to taking climate action. We are growing green talent among youth by organising green awareness campaigns, education programmes, implementing green solutions and a commitment to drive sustainable thinking across the board.
We are looking to avail of SEAI Exceed Grant for Environmental Education Plan and get trained via SEAI e-learning with the Energy Academy to further our understanding and successfully implement community engagement for climate action in our locality.
Quality Education | SDG #4
Our team is dedicated to capacity development and upskilling the members of our community. We provide Ambassador training for students to equip them with skills for education and employment. The support and services that we provide allow individuals to develop both personally and professionally as well as gaining understanding of sustainable development and global citizenship.
Decent Work and Economic Growth | SDG #8
While we have previous experience of work placements and internships, we are now focusing on upbringing sustainability champions in different areas of life: wellbeing, environment and innovation. With our new programmes and events, students have many opportunities to implement practical knowledge and pioneer sustainable development in their local and student communities.
Life below Water | SDG #14
As a way of giving back practically, we are making use of our location by the shore and regularly organise staff beach-clean-up initiatives. This way, we can involve the local community, raise awareness and preserve coastal habitats while creating positive social and environmental impact.
Partnerships for the Goals | SDG #17
Campus Connect is actively looking to create a network for collaboration among campuses and universities, both nationally and internationally. We are looking for exchange and collaboration to drive forward innovation, raising global citizens, and planning ahead for a sustainable future.
