“Wherever I go, I want to grow. I want to shine!” The sky is the limit for incoming ARU student Supreeth
A man of many talents, Supreeth is a professional cricketer and business owner who will be starting an MBA Business Administration degree at ARU’s Cambridge campus in September. He spoke to us about his journey up until now, and where he’s headed.
Name: Supreeth
University: Anglia Ruskin University
Course: MBA Business Administration
Hometown: Bangalore, India
Favourite season: Summer - I can go outside all day! I used to play outside all the time as it is sunny from around 5:30am.
Where it started...
“I have actually been a professional cricket player since the age of 9. At 16, I was the captain of my team and we represented our state. We won our first championship in 2015. I knew that I couldn’t make a career out of sport, so I turned to knowledge. I started writing when I was 18. I wrote blogs and articles, which have been published in three international journals.”
“I completed my education in Engineering, and I currently work in HR. During college I decided that I wanted to shift my career to focus on people. I want to meet new people and work on projects. I knew that the only way to change my career path was to further my education. I have completed an HR course, and am now looking forward to starting my degree.”
...To now
“I wanted to move towards managerial level work. On a technical level as an engineer, there was little room for growth. The thing about me is that I just want to grow bigger and do more, I don’t like staying the same. I wanted to learn marketing strategies and how to manage people, which is how I chose my course. The teaching at ARU is very good, and the campus in Cambridge has so much history.”
“I have my own business - a website designing company called Blogitech. I have continued to write articles and blogs, and have worked with high profile people - including the man that was the first Indian in space! That was a proud moment for me.
Everything that I am working on will help me achieve my goals.”
Looking towards life at ARU
“I’m preparing myself for a few things. Firstly, the change in climate! Secondly, the change in food. I have learned how to cook in the lead up to starting at ARU, and I think I know about 20 dishes now - so I should be ok. I’m also researching what part time jobs I could do alongside my studies. I don’t just want to get money, I want an experience that could help me grow my career.”
“I will miss home, but there’s a reason why I am leaving. It might seem like a fantasy, but I want to be a millionaire. I might as well try, and I’ll get there in 10 or 12 years for sure. I’m excited to learn and achieve my goal. Wherever I go, I want to grow. I want to shine!”
A helping hand
“With CampusConnect I’m always meeting new people, and I’ve managed to make friends. I have learned names that I hadn’t heard before and have found out about societies at the university. I feel like I’ll be close to the people I have met for years after.”
“I think CampusConnect should be done at every university, in every country. You can connect with new people and students coming from your own country. I think for international students it is comforting to have others from your own community.”
“My best advice is that you might fail, but you might also succeed - so give it a try!”
