Tell us a bit about yourself…

“I graduated in 2012 with bachelor’s in marine technology, sailed all around the world moving cargo and finally decided to quit sea life in 2018. After that I started a business back in India just to gain some experience. And just like the business, my life was not moving forward the way I anticipated. Hence, I settled and made peace with an early retirement. A year later, I decided to apply for higher education abroad and my research landed me to pick UK among all the options available.”

Why did you choose to move abroad to study?

“Every night I used to dream about life abroad and wanting to leave the country (a big thanks to the nation’s news channel). I did some research and higher education was the only step forward I thought. It will give me new insights, new experiences and possibly help move forward, or rather accelerate in life. I came to UK in search of better life, new experiences, better education and lifestyle.”

You must have some fun stories from all of your travels…

“I love to travel and eat (evident from the 120kgs I weigh). I have travelled to over 35 countries and tried world cuisine. My favourite place to settle would be Singapore and to visit again and again would be Hong Kong. The Victoria Peak Tram was something that fascinated me to much, and the view from top of the Victoria Peak is just breath-taking. En route to the tram station, a few schoolgirls came up to me for a picture with me and that was so confusing, I know I am not a celebrity nor am I so handsome. Then I asked them why did they chose me, ‘You are so big’ they said in sync and had a smile (or rather a nice laughter) and I was confused as to how to react!”

Do you have a career in mind for after you graduate?

“Yes. I am currently on placement as a Supply Chain Co-ordinator at SMART Tool Group Global. It’s good to gain hands on industry experience and definitely I am looking forward to growing to Supply Chain Manager and excel in the field.”

What pearls of wisdom would you offer to prospective students?

“’Penny saved is penny earned’, my father always said it to me before he passed away. I stand by these words, and I think students should focus of saving money also rather than just working extra for more money. I have made a couple of videos on this topic on my YouTube channel also and can’t emphasize enough on the importance of saving money. Also, ‘Network is Net worth’. It’s a famous book by Porter Gale and quote by Jim Rohn. In today’s world, I believe networking is very important and in one way or more, it is equal to Net worth.”
