Enhancing the Applicant and Offer Holder Experience with CampusConnect

For universities, applicant and offer holder days are key conversion touchpoints along the student lifecycle. They give prospective students a chance to experience campus life, meet their future classmates, and get answers that could lead them to accepting an offer. But for recruitment and admissions teams, these events can be time-consuming to promote, manage, and follow up on.

At CampusConnect, we’ve been working with partners like Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) to use their dedicated applicant community platform to increase the impact of applicant/offer holder days and decrease the workload for busy teams. Here’s how:

Pre-event: streamlined promotion and building excitement

With CampusConnect, applicant days are directly embedded into each university’s bespoke app - from listing events, to building communtiy around them.

  • Event listings include all key information and are targeted by course, meaning students only see the dates relevant to them.

  • This reduces email reliance and helps applicants self-serve information, saving time for teams.

  • Students are already visiting the space to chat with fellow applicants, join groups, and ask questions about student life.

  • Universities can create dedicated chat groups for each applicant day, filtered by course so that students meet the exact people they’ll be studying with.

Post-event: keeping the conversation going

The applicant day might be over, but the connections made that day continue to flourish through group chats and direct messages on the CampusConnect app.

  • The applicant/offer holder day groups stay active, allowing students to ask follow-up questions and stay in touch with new friends.

  • Ambassadors and staff can easily step in to share additional information, helping provide those touchpoints that could make all the difference when it comes to accepting an offer.

The Applicant Day is clearly listed in the CampusConnect app’s ‘Events’ section, making it easy for applicants to find and ensuring they see the most relevant dates for their course.

Higher impact for applicants; lower workload for staff

This approach cuts down on manual admin for recruitment and admissions teams while improving applicant engagement.

  • No need for constant email reminders - the app delivers notifications directly to students’ phones.

  • Students find key information independently, reducing inbound questions to admissions inboxes.

  • Events, groups, and chat all happen in one place, making it easier for teams to manage.

Applicant day at Liverpool John Moores University

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) used their CampusConnect community to power their 2025 applicant day. This joined-up approach led to strong engagement before, during, and after the event.

  • Pre-event: the groups became lively spaces where they organised travel, shared excitement, and got to know each other - reducing nerves and boosting attendance.

  • On the day: applicants arrived feeling more confident and connected. CampusConnect staff attended in person to expand the reach of the online community, using QR codes to help applicants join on the spot.

  • Post-event: the admissions team saw fewer repetitive queries and a smoother event process. Applicants recognised the LJMU CampusConnect app as an integral part of their journey, with continued engagement in the lead-up to enrolment.

CampusConnect staff are present on-site to further promote the community.

With CampusConnect, recruitment teams get a single, scalable platform to manage events, engage students, and build community.
