How best to engage alumni in applicant community building - University of Limerick
Earlier this month we held our CampusConnect ambassador workshop with the IED team at the University of Limerick. It was attended by eight current international students who have volunteered to support new incoming 2020 starters.
We covered a range of topics including commonly asked questions and suitable responses, how to welcome new students, and how to position your profile on the platform so it is clear how you can help. As former CampusConnect users, the ambassador cohort helped us decided on how to structure the UL CampusConnect network so new students can find other applicants, and current students more easily.
For the new 2020 intake alumni will play a key role on CampusConnect, providing incoming UL students with insight into the opportunities available post graduation. Feedback from 2019 suggested that prospects really value the opportunity to talk to alumni as part of their decision making process.
The service will initially be supported by two international alumni ambassadors who are both working in Ireland post graduation. Their role on the service will be to respond to international prospect questions regarding work opportunities and how to prepare for the world of work. As this represents the first instance that we have supported Alumni, there are still some decisions to be made around reward for time, type of contribution, and volume of time/input.
We will be sharing our learnings through future blog posts.
