Some memorable student connections in May

New students love connecting with graduates.

Graduates provide real insight into what the job opportunities are like after graduation, and what aspects of the course are important or relevant in day to day working practice.

And yes, a lot of this is available in prospectuses and on course info pages etc.. but the big difference is as a graduate, you provide authenticity.

It is always much better coming directly from a reliable source who is living the experience - just consider how important product reviews are when you are buying something, or how a friend’s recommendation prompts you to go check out a particular product or service.

Some memorable connections in May

Hadi connects with new University of Limerick MSc Project Management students

Hadi, one of our most active and enterprising subject ambassadors, is a University of Limerick alumni who took time out to share his very recent experience of the job market with new MSc Project Management entrants on UL CampusConnect. Hadi specifically share information about his new role as an Associate Medical Field Service Engineer in Dublin with Stryker

Stephen connects with Tasneem, a Maynooth University MSc Climate Change prospect from India.

Stephen O’Connor, a Maynooth University alumni who works for a Geographic Informations Systems company called the Icon Group, jumped into the MSc Climate change group on Maynooth CampusConnect to talk about the diverse range of career options available to graduates from the course. We even discovered that Stephen had spent some time working as a Geography tutor with first year students, so well placed to advise.

Tasneem in particular found the opportunity to talk to both current and former students and had these kind words to say

“Thank you so much ! CampusConnect is such an invaluable platform for incoming students like me to be able to connect with present students and alumni of the respective course as well as all the other students”

Adrian connects with new students pursuing the Masters in Software Development: International Systems at the University of Limerick

We had had a few requests from new students on this course and were looking for some time before Adrian joined the network and offered to help.

Adrian was busy starting a new job so the timing wasn’t great but he still took time out to focus on the skills he felt were important for new students entering the sector. There were alot of skills that were essential to the role and students picked up a lot of useful tips in the group.

Adrian is waiting on his results next so we wish him all the best.

Of course this is only a snapshot of the many valuable connections that are happening at the moment on CampusConnect.

We thank you all for your participation, and if you haven’t been involved yet we will be in touch.

Please do like our facebook page and share the link to other graduates who would be happy to give back to those who are only starting out.

Declan.
